My Floppy Eared Bulldog JO JO

by Edward L
(Alexandria, Virginia)

My JO JO

My JO JO

My JO JO's mother was an American Bulldog and we don't know what the father was. He has floppy ears and the wax got so bad he shook his head so hard he got an ear blister which the vet had to drain. I was told by one vet(who apparently did not know what she was talking about) to use equal parts of water and vinegar to clean his ears..the result was another yeast infection.

Right now he is on Ketoconazole, Temaril P, and Mometamax. A friend said her dog had chronic yeast infections and she used Pet Relief ear cleaner along with Sebolux shampoo(I read Selsun Blue works well also) and Missing Link Plus and has had no problems since she has been using these. Her vet told her to use alcohol to clean the ears..Never Use Water as that is what starts the problem. I am going to take JO JO to my son's vet as she gets down on the floor to play with the dog when she first meets him/her...now that's a caring vet.

If anyone has any suggestions how to prevent this I am all ears.
