But many local pet stores aren’t able to stock all the sizes and varieties of beds that are available online. So many big dog owners have settled for what’s on the shelf when it came to purchasing their dog’s bed.
Add to that the fact that most of these beds were purchased when the dog was a puppy, when the actual size and sleeping style of the dog was only a best guess. And it’s no wonder that many big dogs are now trying to sleep crowded into undersized dog beds.
If you think your big dog may need a larger bed, it’s a good idea to learn as much as you can about extra large dog beds so you can pick the best one for your growing pup.
You’ll also want to observe how your dog sleeps. Does your dog like to sleep curled up or all spread out flat? Your choice of extra large dog beds will determine how comfortable your dog is when sleeping.

And you’ll find there’s not much difference when shopping for those really big dog beds. It just stands to reason that the bigger the bed… the bigger the price tag.
And let’s not forget the higher the quality the higher the price. After all… we all know that you get what you pay for. And comfort can be well worth the price.
But the price ranges for extra large dog beds are not unreasonable considering what you’re getting.

Are Dog Pet Beds Really Comfortable?
Your dog pet bed may look good… but is it really comfortable? Over the years I’ve heard from many sleep deprived large dog owners.One couple with a very persistent Bull Mastiff named Abby… was determined to find a way to get their dog out of their bed at night… so that they could get some much needed rest.
After hearing about another couple’s success story with their dog’s new bed they decided to take a closer look at Abby’s bed.
They found that her bed didn’t really provide much cushioning for their dog’s bones… Abby weighed in at well over 90 lbs. The heavier the dog, the thicker the extra large dog beds need to be to provide enough cushioning.
And she was always kind of hanging out of the dog bed too... she wasn’t quite fully grown when they got her this bed and after her last growth spurt it now seemed a little too small.

They learned that Abby is also a headrest kind of dog. You know the kind that likes to rest her head on things… but her bed didn’t offer any place for her to rest her head.
After they realized just how uncomfortable Abby’s bed must be for her, they didn’t have any doubts about why she was so determined to share their bed.
So they searched the Internet for high quality big dog beds. They checked out all sorts of big dog beds... an orthopedic dog bed, a dog sofa, and even dog hammocks, (though they were laughing while telling that part of the story).
They had high hopes when they finally selected one based on Abby’s size and sleeping style.
When her new extra large dog bed arrived Abby sniffed it, circled around on it, and once she laid down on it she didn’t want to get up… she even nodded out a bit.
Abby’s new bed even came complete with a comfy headrest… and they say she just loves it!
And now the whole family gets a good nights rest! And with the right choice in extra large dog beds… you can too.
