Keep Your Dog Poster In “Like-New” Condition

You know the type of dog poster I’m talking about. The inexpensive wall posters that many of us bought when we were teens.

Wouldn’t it be great if you still had some of the posters you had hanging on your walls as a teenager? Dog posters can last for generations if properly framed and cared for.

Unfortunately, very few of our favorite posters lasted that long. But luckily it’s real easy to get new favorites. And now you can get them already framed so they can go the distance!

Remember The Fun Posters On Your Wall?

Many of us adorned our bedroom walls, doors and even ceilings with our favorite rock stars, teen idols or in my case dog posters.

I had my favorite pug puppy poster securely fastened with thumbtacks to the back of my bedroom door. Back then framing a wall poster wasn’t something a teen would ever consider.

All I needed to hang a favorite poster was a few thumbtacks, a little scotch tape, or a stapler. One, if not all, of these simple stationery items were usually readily available around the house. This meant that I could hang my newest acquisition as soon as I got it home.

As was the case with most teenagers, I would never dream of spending money to frame them.

At the time, it never dawned on me that my posters would last much longer if I framed them. I couldn’t wait to run to the store with my friends to spend my allowance on another one. And when I got one as a gift we just never thought about getting it framed.

I wish I had a few of my favorites around still. I realize now that If I spent a little more on getting the poster framed instead of plastering every square inch of my room, I might still have a few of my all-time favorites to share with my friends and family.

Old habits are certainly hard to break. And it may surprise you how many people who buy or receive an unframed poster as a gift never spend the money to have it framed.

Is Framing A Dog Poster Worth The Extra Cost?

That will keep it safe . . . but will it have the lasting impact you're looking for?

Why not have it framed instead? Sure it will cost a bit more, but take it from me she’ll be glad you did!

Granted, none of the posters in my dog collection were very valuable or as well known as the famous “dogs playing poker” poster, but to me they were priceless.

Looking back now it would have been nice to have at least one poster from my collection that was in good enough condition to hold onto as a keepsake.

The one that comes to mind is my adorable pug puppy poster that hung for years on the back of my bedroom door. If I had received that one as a framed poster I know that’s the one I would’ve chosen to keep.

But by the time I went off to college my beloved dog art was filled with thumbtack and staple holes and pieces of scotch tape.

Over the years I used all of these things to secure my pug puppy poster to doors as well as mend its torn and curled edges.

And without the protection of a frame… there’s no chance that you’ll catch me waiting in line at the Antiques Road Show to have any of my beloved dog posters valued!

It’s no great wonder that not one of my beloved dog posters was even close to being in collectible condition or even worth saving. Invest in a frame so your dog posters don’t have to have such a hard life.
