Dog Nail Trimming
Ouch! We cut too deep

by Mandy
(Houston, Texas)

My daughter brought her 8 month old Mini English Bulldog to spend the weekend with me while she went out of town.

She asked me to trim his nails, which went about two months of apartment living without a trim.

I cut our Basset's nails for years. However, the quick was overgrown and I cut too deep. I feel terrible!!!!

He is such a sweet pup (a 52lb pup, but still a pup!) He let me treat with a styptic pencil and never flinched.

Moral of the story...no matter how experienced you may be trimming nails, don't over do it.

Better to trim a bit and catch the dog again in a couple of weeks, than try to cut short.
