To Contain Your Pooch

When someone mentions "dog kennels," what picture comes to mind? Do you picture a wall stacked with little cages or a bunch of
long, narrow fenced-in areas outside?

Kennel is such a bewildering term that it can mean many different things to different people.

So lets get started sorting out the kennel confusion and figure out just what you need when it comes to pet containment!

A kennel is a very general term that means a place where pets are bred or kept.

By this definition, it can be used to describe quite a broad range of products that are used for pet confinement.

It’s meaning has come to be used when referring to products such as pet carriers, dog crates, pet exercise pens, as well as outdoor dog kennels.

And within each of these categories there are many differences… all under the general term dog kennel.

Wire dog kennels and hard plastic kennels sound similar in description but would be used for different pet containment needs.


Dog Kennels That Meet Your Needs

The main issue is deciding on a suitable dog kennel is how it will function for your particular needs.

For instance, wire kennels and hard plastic kennels will both safely contain your pet. But the plastic kennels are usually more convenient if you are going to tote your pet around.

And some pet carriers that are soft enough to sling over your shoulder can contain your pet quite comfortably. But would this pet carrier come to mind first with the word kennel?


Dog Kennels: Think Outside The Cage

So its best to loosen up your thinking a little when you start to look at dog kennels.

First, figure out your needs. What do you want it to accomplish and what features would be the most convenient for you and your dog?

Will it need to travel? Will you need to lift it or carry it around? Will you want to look a dog kennels that have sun screens and can withstand an outdoor environment?

When you have your list of requirements figured out, shopping for dog kennels will be fun rather than confusing.
