What is biting me?
by: Anonymous

I know that a dog we adopted had ear mites and now I am getting bit at night and during the day.

I can feel them crawling on me but I cannot see anything. My head itches and my hair is falling out.

They have not touched anyone else in the house. If you have a clue let me know.

Ear Mites of Terror!
by: Anonymous

Hi,
I noticed that right on this web site where your question is posted, it DOES say the following~

"Ear mites can be transmitted to other pets and even humans. Mites have a life cycle of about 3 weeks. And like fleas they can survive away from an animal for a period of time."

I have bites on me, so I think it is true as well.
Take Care!

No the dog mites cannot infect you because they are not zootonic.

No they cannot infest the house because they cannot survive long off of the dog.

Ear mites are not zoonotic, meaning they cannot be transmitted to humans.

Human ears aren't as furry, nor as warm as a dog or a cat's ear; these animals have higher body temperatures that create the ideal circumstances for these mites to thrive.
