Protect Your Pooch From Injury
With A Dog Car Restraint

A dog car restraint is a great step in preventing injury to your pooch or other
passengers
.

After all, nobody wants their precious doggie to be tossed around the car in case of an accident.

If your car accidentally collides with something… I know, heaven forbid… I’m with you on that!… your poor doggie could not only fly through the car and get injured, but hurt other passengers as well.

Remember, if your dog isn’t secured in a dog car restraint, a collision could cause your dog to be propelled through your car like a projectile with grasping claws and very sharp teeth!

And nobody wants a terrified, panicking, possibly injured dog suddenly thrust into their lap!

No matter how loving your precious little pooch normally is, being unexpectedly thrust into that situation is going to bring out your dog’s most primal survival instincts… and they’re usually pretty aggressive.

So help your loving family pup feel confident, safe and secure in a dog car restraint that will protect ALL your passengers from injury… canine and human.

But Which Dog Car Restraint
Is Right For Your Pooch?

When shopping for a dog car restraint that works well for your pooch, you’ll want to make sure you pick one that meets all of your needs.

There are many different types restraints and the one you choose should reflect the individual circumstances of your dog, vehicle, and type of use.

A restraint is meant to fulfill several important functions. And if you’re like me… you’ll want to choose the one that fulfills them with the most convenience.

Types of Dog Car Restraints

To start with, the restraint you choose should be designed for the size and weight of your dog.

For example, many of the dog seat belts are designed to accommodate the average size dog and would not be a suitable dog car restraint for a toy or smaller dog.

Whereas, small dog car seats, a dog booster seat, or small pet carriers are usually intended for the small dog breeds and would not be a correct fit for medium to larger dogs.

When looking into dog carriers for cars it’s important to make sure that you size it correctly. It’s nice to allow your pet more room to move around. But remember that in the event of an accident the less room to flail about the better.

There are also dog seat belts and dog seat belt harnesses that must be securely fastened in the car to properly protect your dog from the sudden movements of the vehicle.

As an added safety feature, most vehicle dog seat belt harnesses are designed to distribute the force of impact to the stronger areas of your dog’s body.

Even the best dog harness that you would normally use to take your dog for a walk may not include this special feature.

There are also portable dog crates that can easily be carried in the rear of wagons, mini vans or SUV’s.

The portable dog crates will keep your dog from jumping around the car and possibly interfering with your safe operation of the vehicle.

Portable dog crates will also contain your dog in the unfortunate event of a collision, although you may want to consider some extra padding.

And remember, for optimal safety of this type of dog car restraint, it’s important to make sure that you securely fasten the portable dog crate to the vehicle with adequate strapping so that the crate does not open or come apart on impact.

You could also consider vehicle pet barriers. These types of car dog restraints were designed to limit your dog’s movements to the rear of your vehicle only. Vehicle pet barriers act like a sturdy gate that will allow your dog to freely move around but will not allow your pooch to cross over into the rest of the car.

This is convenient for keeping your car… and the back of your neck… free of slippery dog drool and cold nose prints. (Isn’t it amazing how many nose prints one dog can leave on the car windows?)

Using dog car restraints to restrict your dog to one area of the vehicle while traveling, will minimize the doggie slobber that you have to clean up later.

Dog Car Restraint Safety,
Comfort And Convenience

Safety for your dog and passengers is an important aspect in choosing which dog car restraint is right for you. But you’ll also want to consider your dog’s comfort… not to mention your convenience.

The main function of a dog car restraint is the same as your car’s regular seat belts, air bags and passive restraints. They are there to secure your dog safely in the vehicle.

But the design of the restraint must be such that your dog will not be injured due to straps, fasteners, or the amount of free play left in the restraint.

The restraint should be snug enough to secure your four-legged passenger but also allow for enough comfort that your dog won’t fight with you every time you head for the car.

I’ve always found that with a little training with doggie treats, you should have very little trouble getting your pooch to cooperate.

But it doesn’t hurt to make sure the dog car restraint is as comfortable as possible for your dog.

And the more convenient the dog car restraint, the better! I’m sure you know that the longer it takes to fasten your dog into the restraint, the more difficult it is to distract and keep your dog still enough to finish hooking the pooch up.

So whether you choose a booster dog car seat or a dog seat belt harness, or maybe a vehicle pet barrier or a portable dog crate, or even a small pet carrier for short trips… you’ll want to make sure that the restraint you choose is safe, cozy & comfy… and convenient for you and your special pooch.
